Building The Strong Foundation

Do you ever get antsy because things are moving too slowly in your life? Maybe you don't realize that building a foundation for success does not happen overnight. It is often a poky process in which you are continuously working and learning. After everything is said and done, this foundation must remain strong, even in times of failure or crisis. It takes time! Remind yourself: "failing" is only failure if I quit; otherwise it's a learning opportunity. So don't sweat it if your life seems to be moving like a turtle in a toffee lagoon. Just keep your focus on building a strong and persistent root system-- as the bamboo plant does-- and watch for a brilliant eruption, a sustainable forest of success!

"In addition to reading ten pages a day of a motivational or inspirational book...listen to a self-improvement CD for at least 15 minutes every day... If you spend that time listening to educational and self-improvement material, you'll have the equivalent of a Ph.D. on any subject you choose in just a few years. That's the Slight Edge." ~Jeff Olson, author of "The Slight Edge: Secret to a Successful Life"

Harness that Painful Association for Good- Day 4 of All Power

In this 4th Day of the All Power Seminar, the Manual suggests that the two forces controlling 99% of human behaviour are (1)the need to avoid pain and discomfort, and (b)the desire to achieve happiness or pleasure. Leo Schreven suggests that everything we do is motivated by these principles.

The repeated linking of images of massive personal pain and discomfort to any unwanted habit will usually result in eradicating that destructive behaviour or emotional habit. It doesn't require "severe discipline" or "will power" in the way we usually mean it-- the 'white knuckle' approach-- but it does require that we change our minds about what we link happiness and pleasure to, and what we associate with pain and discomfort.

We are driven by a programmed reaction to what we perceive as painful or pleasureful, and not by any intellectual decision.

When you read the Bible, or other such book, your mind will be re-programmed to associate fulfillment and satisfaction with that which is good, honest, true and pure. When you make a decision to turn from the perversions of pleasure and contentment in your life, and focus on the Godly plan for your edified life, you will realize that happiness and pleasure. Simple as that. (Yes, it is part of the "law of attraction".)

At the same time, when you want to change a behaviour you must focus on how NOT attending to some need will be more painful or uncomfortable than attending to it. Link NOT taking action with increased discomfort and pain.

What does the Bible have to say about "changing your mind and changing your life"?
Romans 12:2- "Be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
Ephesians 4:23- "Be renewed in the spirit of your mind."
2 Timothy 1:7- "Be of a sound mind."
Philippians 2:5-
"Let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus."

So, go ahead and try this out on some habit or behaviour you either want to get rid of or reinforce...

If you find that you would like a little extra help with behaviours or habits that do not respond to the pleasure/pain principle, but which do not seem serious enough to warrant a trip to a professional psychologist, you might want to check out an energy technique that works when little else does. This tool is called the Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, and you can download the free manual by going to the EFT web site. EFT is a non-invasive, quick, easy-to-learn method for turning around situations where you are either associating pleasure with destructive habits (eg.,adultery, porn, gambling, spree-shopping) or associating pain and discomfort with something that was designed to bring pleasure (intimacy, relationship commitment, exercise). There are a number of practitioners of EFT who are Christian and see the technique as a gift from God in its ability to facilitate desired changes of behaviour and habit. 5 Simple Steps (Day 3- All Power Seminar)

In this particular All Power seminar (Day 3 in the manual) I am instructed to gain success by memorizing--and then taking-- 5 Simple Steps:
(1) Decide to master every dimension of life, including my spiritual life.
(2) It is essential that I know what I desire from life.
(3) I must take action to achieve my purpose in life.
(4) When I take action, I need to notice the results I am getting
(5) If things don't work right away, then I must not give up, but instead I need to change my approach and try something different.

This is a period of "re-awakening the dream" as we look at it in my business. At various times in my life I have had glimpses of what I would love for my life to look like, and then because I don't "commit" to the dream, it dissipates and it is as if it didn't even exist. I need to take a close look at some of those vanishing dreams... and do the following:

**Decide to master the whole of my life-- as the Creator designed me to do (I am made in His image)
**Choose what I want from each area of my life and commit to getting it
**What "small steps" (man, this harks back to my reading of The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen)can I take each day that will help me to achieve my dreams?
**As I take my baby steps I need to be aware of the positive AND negative results of my actions (or inactions)

**I need to think of possibilities, new ways of looking at and/or doing, fresh ideas, and not impose limits on my dreams...

I'm committing to list the 5 Simple Steps and to hang them directly in front of me so I need only glance up to see them.

I'm making a list of what I want out of each area of my life, and how I plan to do that with small daily steps. I'm putting these "desires" on my Dream Board in image form since my 'faithful servant' (my unconscious) works with emotion and images to fulfill my desires. The youtube dream board demonstration above is just one of many, many examples you will find on youtube and throughout the web. Have fun!

Spring Special at SBI-- Build Your Own Premium Website Ka-Ching

I personally love SBI but don't have a video like this fellow does... I am building my SBI site at http://natural-gran.com and helping my friend build hers at http://howtobehealthynaturally.com While we learn how to build a site, we are making cash and learning about important internet commerce components such as Adsense and Key Words. I pay $299 a year to build and maintain my SBI site... a good deal, I know, but you can do just as I am doing for only $100 when you take advantage of the Spring Special. I'd do it if I were you!

Sincerely,

Cynthia Zirkwitz

Feelings Follow Your Thoughts...

~by Gail Steel**

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23:7

Did you know that your feelings will follow your thoughts?

In The Winged Life, Hannah Hurnard writes how we can revolutionize our lives simply by looking at life differently. She mentions 5 thought exercises, things we can do for ourselves, to practise:

1. Never say anything unkind about anyone.

2. Avoid drawing attention to yourself.

3. Do not grumble. Go through each day with praise. Find something to be thankful for every day.

4. Control your imaginations and daydreams. Never think of yourself as the key player.

5. Eliminate all reading and other pleasures that harm rather than enrich your life.

When you practise these thought exercises,
you will find that the trials you face will not crumple you. You will find that instead of being crushed and bruised by them, you will open up options to handle and overcome them.
